Benedict Radcliffe is a name that stands out in the European design community, thanks to his unique 3D geometric wireframe sculptures. He has made life-sized versions of legendary vehicles, and his work is known for changing the atmosphere around them.
The latest piece of his caught my attention, as I’m a big Porsche enthusiast. This is the Porsche 959, but done in a scaled version with a luminous green steel finish. As this model from the German car manufacturer turns 40 in 2025, Benedict’s timing couldn’t be better. Car lovers who can’t get in on the real deal can proudly display this detailed sculpture on their desk or living room shelf.
Designer: Benedict Radcliffe and Studio INK
This desktop-friendly sculpture is crafted from composite resin and glows in a way that’ll make you wanna stick to your office chair a little longer. The model is scaled at 1:15 and is limited to just 15 pieces, available for purchase on the artist’s site for 2500 GBP. This wireframe version builds on the success of other popular models of the Ferrari F40, Porsche 934, and the classic London taxi that was displayed at Heathrow Airport back in 2014.
The London-based artist has also teamed up with Studio INK—who crafted an animated teaser for this glowing steel tube sculpture in the digital space. Fans of Porsche can view the model in a 360-degree environment, as the studio has done 3D scans of the designer’s creation. The animation presents the assembly process and leads to the final version of the luminous sculpture. As for the history of the Porsche 959, it first appeared in 1985 and quickly became the fastest street-legal production car in the world at the time. This sporty car had the ability to adjust the torque between the front and rear wheels no matter the weather.
