Honestly, I can’t stand leaving the house with wet hair, especially during winter, because I get a cold quicker than a toddler can sneeze. Hair dryers are certainly a great invention to stop that, but with time being so precious these days, do I really wanna spend 10-20 minutes drying my thick mane? Nope. I reckon most people would agree with me, but what can we do about it? Luckily, someone had the bright idea of creating a hands-free hair dryer that also functions as a lamp.
Korean industrial designer ByeongKyu Park came up with the Pillar hands-free hair dryer to help users make the most of their precious time. Now that’s the kind of invention I can get behind. The Pillar not just saves time but also space, which is a luxury in today’s homes. Its column design keeps your vanity and drawer space free for other essentials. It can sit in a corner of your room until needed or it can be used as a floor lamp.

You can kick off your day without hassle with this hair dryer that gives you the freedom to handle a few morning chores at the same time. The dryer comes with a steel frame allowing you to attach it magnetically at whatever angle you prefer, making multitasking easy. It consists of two cuboid devices: one being the hair dryer and the other a lamp.
The Pillar hair dryer has an adjustable knob that lets you direct the airflow just like a manual hair dryer would. You can pick from three airflow settings: strong wind, light warm wind, and strong warm wind. Just plug in the device and you can do your tasks, whether that’s reading a book or in my case, enjoying a favorite video game. Fifa, anyone?
Don’t call me lazy for supporting such a device. The Pillar will save me time and lets me focus on other tasks, especially in the morning. But it’s also a big help for the elderly or those with limited mobility who can struggle to dry their hair using a traditional hair dryer.
After you’re done using the device, it can be aligned with the body shape of the column frame for a sleeker look. While not in use, just turn on the lamp and light up your space with style.
