The January new moon marks the start of the Lunar New Year, or the Chinese New Year, and for 2025 it’s all about the Year of the Snake as per the zodiac calendar. Major watch brands such as Longines and Oris have already showcased their special timepieces to celebrate the excitement of the 15-day festivities, and now the Jordan brand is jumping in too, presenting an edition of the Air Jordan 11 Low that takes inspiration from the mythological Year of the Snake.
Introducing the Air Jordan 11 Low CNY Year of the Snake, this model is part of the Jordan brand’s thematic collection, which includes several other models like the Air Jordan 1 Low and the Air Jordan 5. The AJ 11 Low CNY edition aims to offer a one-of-a-kind sneaker infused with cultural significance and the strong Jordan branding, which already has a solid contemporary following. We’ll see just how popular this sneaker is when it releases in the third week of January.

Looking at it, the Air Jordan 11 Low CNY Year of the Snake doesn’t stray far from the AJ 11 Low OG. Still, it exudes a fresh design that embodies the festive spirit while not changing the core of the sneaker too much. Naturally, the snake symbolism is included – aligning with the year of the wood snake theme – showcased with a striking snakeskin motif for a standout effect.
This sneaker brings a clean and classic vibe with it’s captivating texture against the mostly white canvas. The upper is made from white tumbled leather, complemented by a similar colored midsole. The whole sneaker gets a fresh twist with the greyish snakeskin mudguard which nods to the Year of the Snake theme. The design is finished off with a semi-translucent milky outsole.
There’s been some speculation about the release date – it’s tentatively set for January 23, 2025 – so we’re excited to share the first clear images of the Air Jordan 11 Low CNY Year of the Snake from the Instagram handle sneakersbar. When it releases, this Chinese New Year-themed sneaker will be sold at select Jordan retailers and available on the Nike website online. The Air Jordan 11 Low with the Year of the Snake detailing will retail for $190 in men’s sizes.
