We all know how frustrating it can be to fight over power outlets or go through unnecessary hassle just to keep our devices charged. Many of us even end up dragging power strips or extension cords around, trying to adapt to our busy lives, whether we’re working or just chilling.
As handy as they may be, the typical design of power outlets and strips feel really outdated and can’t keep pace with today’s dynamic lifestyles. This new modular concept aims to provide not just power, but also lighting that adapts to our constantly shifting needs, whether we’re catching up on work at a coffee shop, bunking down at a hotel, or just relaxing at home.

There’s no strict rule that says power strips have to have that long box shape. Sure, it’s often the best format for fitting multiple outlets, but that doesn’t mean it’s the most efficient. Especially when you consider that there’s wasted space and potential in how we could use power sources better. You can’t easily change the length of a power strip or even make it vertical without some kind of support.
NODES represents a fresh approach to how we use power accessories. Central to this idea is a power strip module that’s quite different from traditional options. Instead of the usual long rectangle, this one is almost spherical, with a plug coming out one side. It has three AC outlets and two USB-C ports, meeting most power needs. The plug can connect directly to a wall socket, an extension cord, or, as we’ll discuss, a battery module. Although it’s not clearly mentioned, it may even be possible to connect these spheres together to increase outlet capacity.
Another important component of this system is the light module, which is basically a light bulb that connects via a plug. The textured dial at the bottom acts not just as an on/off switch but also as a dimmer, making it super simple to control brightness. Its minimalist design allows you to easily set up a cozy bedside lamp or even use it as a desk lamp while camping.
Last but not least is this tall battery module, shaped like a dome, which provides a single-outlet access to a 20,000 mAh battery. It’s great for converting the light module into a temporary table lamp, and you can bypass outlet restrictions by first plugging in the power strip module. With just these three components, the NODES system already quite effectively meets the needs of many people today, while still leaving options for future modules that might cater to specific uses and requirements.
