Created by the architect studio Clemens Kirsch, this beautiful home located in the Viennese hills is known as the Villa Minimale. It stands out as an impressive structure intended for a family of four. This wooden retreat smartly makes the most of space, crafting a serene sanctuary for leisure, connection, and gardening. It’s designed to be a relaxing oasis, a space that fosters family bonds and encourages interaction among family and friends in a tranquil setting.

With a maximum floor space of 35 sqm and a height restriction of 5 meters imposed by stringent building rules, this home showcases the architects’ creative approach, drawing inspiration from the legendary Villa Rotonda and the Kings Road House. The outcome is a space that feels both timeless and modern, creating a captivating ambiance. In a world overly saturated with sterile designs, the timeless and understated Villa Minimale provides a refreshing retreat. It is a lovely and peaceful haven with warmth and character, standing out amidst the sea of uninviting homes.
The Villa Minimale’s ground floor features a central dining space, a fully-equipped kitchen, a bathroom, a WC, and a snug alcove. Upstairs, there are three bunks, which recreate the feeling of “camping,” allowing residents to gaze at the sky. Built using prefabricated timber components, the exterior showcases light-glazed timber battens topped with a copper roof.
The inside exudes warmth, thanks to the usage of veneered marine pine blackboards. Atop this wooden structure is a shiny copper roof. The fusion of softly colored furniture and paint contributes to the calming vibe. Big square and oval windows and doors let in plenty of fresh air and sunlight. An inviting alcove sits at the heart of Villa Minimale’s design, acting as a stunning focal point.
Villa Minimale consists of four identical wooden boxes topped with shed roofs, arranged in a windmill-like manner around a central oculus. This circular airspace in the center offers natural ventilation and fosters a connection to the landscape outside.
This home beautifully merges interior and exterior boundaries, flowing together with its surroundings and offering scenic views in every direction. Nature and architecture blend together, crafting a living experience that feels unique, free-flowing and inspired.
